About Jaxon

Jaxon came into our care when his owners were no longer to meet his welfare needs. When he came to us, he had terrible skin that required medicating and very dirty and sore ears. He was also very scared of us and it took us some time to make friends with him. After lots of treatment, baths and TLC Jaxon is now ready to find his forever home.

Jaxon requires a family/home that has had experience with German shepherd dogs in the past, as he does have lots of shepherd traits, such as being vocal towards dogs on lead. He doesn't quite know what to do with himself when he see's another dog, we have been working on this here at Millbrook and he has now made lots of doggy friends and is easier to distract and manage when out and about.

He is an absolute love-bug and adores affection from just about anyone - he loves nothing more than to be pampered whilst he lays on his back having belly rubs! Jaxon also enjoys silly games of chase ... he's the one who likes to be chased!!! He requires a decent sized enclosed garden with 6ft fencing for off lead play at home. Jaxon can be strong on lead so will need someone physically able to hold him.

Jaxon will need on-going medication in the future for his skin allergy, so potential adopters need to be aware that this will not be covered by insurance, and will need to be able to cover the cost of this.

He could possibly live with another dog depending on introductions done here at the centre. Jaxon would prefer to live with a neutered male of a similar size and it may take time for him to bond with them so we would need them to meet over a number of visits.

Jaxon could live with kids of secondary school age and would prefer a household with more than one adult. You will also need to be willing to come and visit Jaxon a few times to build a bond and become familiar to him. He can not live with cats.

Jaxon will need someone at home most of the day to begin with to help him settle, with time being left increased slowly. He is pretty clean in his kennel so we don't think toilet training should take too long! He may need some refresher car travel training.
