Xena is a 7 year old (DOB 12/09/2012) female black and tan semi coat German Shepherd who is spayed, microchipped and vaccinations
are out of date.
She currently lives with 3 children but is generally good with the 2 older children but the youngest tends to wind
her up and she growls at the child but has never bitten him. There was a situation where an 8 year child was tormenting Xena with
food and Xena jumped up and nipped the child on the chin. She lives with a chihuahua and doesn't react negatively to other dogs. There
were 2 guinea pigs in the garden which Xena was showing an interest in so do not think she would be good with cats or small furry
When the assessor arrived at the house she was in the garden behind a small gated section where she spends most of her day.
She didn't bark, just put her paws on the gate. When she came through the gate she had sniffed at the assessor not jumping up and
was shy and unsure. Each time she walked past the assessor they touched her and stroked her back and she was happy but was quite aloof
overall and just not interested in the assessor.
Xena travels ok in the car. She knows her basic commands. On the lead she does pull
a little and will zig zag when walking. Her recall is good. On walks she doesn't like busy traffic/buses and becomes agitated. Xena
is fed a raw diet as commercial food can give her an upset tummy.
At the vets she is muzzled to be on the safe side and she has no
known medical problems.
The best home for Xena would be with either no or older children. She would probably be better as an only
dog so that the new owner can work on socialising her and giving her the time and attention she deserves.
