Duke is a male 19 month old (DOB 05/10/17) black and tan short coat German Shepherd who is microchipped and vaccinations are due March 2020.

Duke is a large 43 kg dog who is well cared for and has a lovely coat and bright eyes, he is alert and loving.

Duke currently lives with 2 children who are 4 and 6 years old and is good with them. He has never lived with another dog but when out on a walk if a dog barks at Duke he will bark back. He has never lived with a cat and when outside the house he will bark and growl at them.

When the assessor arrived at the home Duke was shut behind a stair gate and did bark but when Duke was let in beside assessor he was friendly and did jump up to lick their face.

From the age of 6 months Duke did go to training classes up until about a month ago when he barked at another dog and the trainer insisted that he was muzzled. He has not been back to the training classes since then but he is a very obedient dog and knows all his basic commands. Duke sleeps at the bottom of the stairs as he is not allowed to go upstairs and does abide by this rule.

He does love travelling in the car but he has not been on any long journeys. Duke will bark at fireworks but has not reacted to thunder.

Duke is confined to the kitchen when the family go out and he is fully housetrained.

He has never bitten or shown any aggression and has no toy or food aggression problems. There are no known medical problems.

Duke does take treats gently and obeys commands. When assessor tried to touch Duke on the back he did turn round to look but didn't react. Out in the garden with the children the older child did hit Duke on the back with a thin stick (like a whipping stick) and Duke did turn round but did not react and assessor did wonder if this was a regular occurrence.

Lovely dog looking for his new home.
