I'm a 2 year old,male German Shepherd.
Karl has come into rescue as his previous owner took in one dog too many. The owner did not have the time or the physicality to handle
him. Very much loved, but decided to rehome in the best interests of the dog.
2.5 years old: entire: vaccinations will be completed
and will be microchipped w/c 26/11.
Has never lived with children: he is very excitable and a little nervous so teenagers if any.
Karl has never been around cats, but a feline free home would be advisable.
Has lived with several other GSDs: OK with all except
for one who would not accept him. Has been off lead on walks from kennels with another 3 GSDs: loved running with them and loved the
rough and tumble. Could live with an older and/or wiser bitch able to keep him in his place and show him the way.
Highly excited when
visitors arrive: when assessed ran around the assessor in circles and jumped up. But if you keep your back to him and ignore he settles.
No aggression in this behaviour.
Karl has had no training: with time and patience he will learn. Loves playing chase with a ball and
loves a treat which he takes quite gently. He will sit quite well on command and responds consistently when told to wait.
on lead at the start of a walk, but settles to some extent as he realises he is not in charge of direction of travel.
Has some recall:
when off lead with the other dogs came back with the and recall is OK without distraction in the paddock.
Karl travels well: will
sit or lie down.
OK to be left for short periods: does not chew.
Will need housetraining, but this should not be difficult when into
Right now Karl is a bit of a challenge: not aggressive, but he is a big strong lad who needs a strong, confident owner
with the time and patience to curb his excitement and give him direction.
The rewards will be amazing as this 2 year old pup develops
into the intelligent GSD he was meant to be.
Karl is currently in kennels in Sunderland.
